Getting ready for Baby

WHAT WILL THE FIRST FEW WEEKS LOOK LIKE WITH MY BABY?

We believe that realistic expectations are vital to helping prepare new parents for bringing their baby home. We’ll work with you to help you to understand what your needs will be in the early days and how to meet them.

What will you get from this scheduled call:
You’ll receive a 20-minute free consultation to establish what you know about babies and what you wish you knew. Some of the topics in your follow-up 2-hour call are:

  • Suggested nursery list

  • American Academy of Pediatrics safe sleep guidelines

  • Diapering

  • Swaddling

  • Basics or breastfeeding

  • Soothing techniques

  • Creating a sleep environment that encourages healthy sleep habits

  • Identifying your baby’s cues to meet their needs

  • Preparing for the physical and emotional changes in the postpartum period

  • How the parents can be supportive of each other and still have their own needs met

  • Challenges the partner faces and how they can bond with their baby

  • How to transition and grow into your new role, without losing your identity

After the 2-hour video conference call:
You will already have received a detailed email, outlining our conversation, plus a list of resources on subjects discussed, for future reference.

You’ll have access to our team via email for 2 weeks following your call, so if you have any additional questions, we can help address them.

Due to the Covid 19 pandemic our original plan to have a newborn care specialist come to live with us for the first month of Andrew’s life, was immediately scrapped. Haley’s cousins generously gifted us some consulting hours with Denise. Every call we have had with her to date has yielded great insight and help. We have loved and cherished the additional one and one time we have spent with Andrew, although the nights are long, it has been very rewarding and knowing Denise is just a call or text away has a been a wonderful virtual safety net for us!
